Where Pistol Permit Applications Are Processed

All Erie County pistol permit applications are reviewed by the Clerk’s Office, but final approval comes from an Erie County Court Judge or a New York State Supreme Court Justice.

Step 1: Take the Required 16-Hour NYS Concealed Carry Class

Before you can apply, you must complete the New York State–mandated 16-hour concealed carry pistol permit safety course. This course is now required statewide, including NYC and all WNY counties.

To apply in Erie County, you must:
